Pelin Smith is our new Church Office Manager at Redeemer Maastricht. In this role, Pelin is responsible for keeping our church office clean, tidy, and well-stocked for all our mid-week events and programs. In this interview with Pelin, she shares more about her background, how she came to Redeemer Maastricht, and her heart for serving the church and God.

Please tell us a bit about you – where are you from, and how did you come to live in The Netherlands?
I’m originally from Turkey, but I was born in Germany and spent my early years there. When I was seven, my family moved to China, and I grew up there. At 18, I decided to move to the Netherlands to study at university and my then-boyfriend, now-husband, chased me to the Netherlands. We’ve been part of Redeemer ever since.
What has your experience been like since joining Redeemer, and how has your walk with God taken shape over this time?
Redeemer is my very first church community, which makes it especially dear to me. From the beginning, I was welcomed with warmth into this tightknit community. My walk with God has deepened so much here, and being surrounded by such a Christ-centered community has helped me mature and grow closer to Him.
You’ve recently started as Redeemer’s Church Office Manager. Can you tell us more about your role?
I’m in charge of stocking up on supplies used by the office, making sure that the office space is tidy and that everything is running smoothly. My goal is to help create an organized and welcoming environment for the mid-week activities of Redeemer.
Why did you want to take on the role of Church Office Manager at Redeemer?
When this opportunity first came up, I took a few months to pray about it and see if God really meant it for me. I chose to take on this role because I want to serve the church and allow God to use me wherever He needs me.
If someone would like to get more involved by serving through their gifts for cleanliness and organization… how can they get involved?
We’ll be having monthly clean up days with pizza and drinks and everyone is welcome to join! It’s not only a chance to keep our office space clean but also a time for fellowship and gratitude for what God has provided. If you enjoy organizing and fellowship, please feel free to join us.
Thank you for sharing your story with us, Pelin!
