February reflection from Dominik

When I moved to China a few years back my start was rough. I got in trouble with the police because I didn’t get registered quick enough, had to leave two apartments in one week and got severely sick at the same time. But I knew God wanted me there because He provided a church immediately. The first time walking into this church, just as worship started, I was flooded with the overwhelming sense of the Holy Spirit. God’s presence reassuring me that He is in control and all I have to focus on is worshipping Him. It came through a church who called out to God in unity and gave Him praise. Hearing different languages pray, and seeing people eager to see Him work and do what only He can do. Thinking: “Wow! This church is full of faith.”

Maybe you had a similar experience before?

This is what we see in Acts 4. In one of the first crises of the early church Peter and John responded to threats by going to the church, reporting what happened and together they raised their voices to God “with one accord”. A spirit filled people crying out to God for help, for boldness to speak His word, for healings and signs and wonders to be done through Jesus’ name. As a result their place was shaken, they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke His word boldly! Next we learn that the believers were of one heart and one soul. The apostles gave witness with great power and grace was upon them all. How amazing is that? To see what corporate prayer can start.

Through our House of Prayer series we believe God wants to encourage and teach us to be expectant through prayer and to give Him all the glory, together. Let us encourage each other to pray out loud together, to believe that He is still performing miracles and to make us bold to share His word. That through the unleashing of His Holy Spirit we become of one heart and one soul. Prayer might start in the quiet room but His house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples! That is of you who prays loudly, you who prays in your native tongue, you who prays two words and you who will be encouraged to pray for the first time out loud in church.

With love,

Dominik
