Dive into songwriting, playing, leading and celebrating our God together!
Worship team leaders and church musicians from the New Ground family of churches are invited to join us for an amazing day of learning and growing together. We will gather for a day of skill-building workshops taught by fellow worship leaders and church musicians, as well as a songwriting intensive led by worship leader, songwriter, and producer, Richard James Butt.
Special guest Richard James Butt
Richard James Butt is a Worship Leader, Songwriter & Producer who lives in Eastbourne. He runs Blank Canvas Music, an artist development service that focuses specifically on helping songwriters to write better songs through songwriting consultations, production, and mixing.
Alongside this, he is the Worship Pastor at Kings Church Eastbourne, where there is a focus on growing a diverse and reconciled church. He is married to Lucy, who is the CEO of Bramber Bakehouse, and together they have 2 children, Olivia & Judah.

Workshop topics
In addition to the songwriting intensive, we are offering six short workshops on the Worship Team Day. Each participant will have the opportunity to take part in three workshops. When registering, please indicate your "top 3" and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences.
1. Practical worship-leading
Lead your church and band in worship using vocal cues.
2. Basic vocal harmonies
Find pleasing harmonies with more than 2 or 3 voices.
3. From piano to keys
Create an atmosphere by layering sound on the keyboard.
4. Acoustic guitar voicing & rhythm
Get that full sound through chord-shapes and rhythm choices
5. Cajon in church
Use the versatile, portable cajon to get full, drum sounds in church.
6. Build a worship set
Prepare for worship and select songs based on what you know and don't know.

Worship night
After a day of learning and playing music together, we will invite the wider church to join us for an evening of worship and celebration of our God.
Everyone is welcome! Participation is free of charge. Please note that there will be no kids' program provided.
